Citroen C4 up to world best #4 in market up 17.6% – Best Selling Cars Blog The Citroen C4 scores its best ranking in the world in Portugal this month.

14,485 new cars hit Portuguese roads in July, a 17.6% year-on-year lift. The year-to-date tally is now down -4.1% to 89,944, a good performance in the current European context. The brands podium is in euphoric mode: Peugeot (+44.4%) returns to the pole position it holds year-to-date with 11% share, Volkswagen (+73.6%) is up seven spots on June to #2 and Citroen (+114.2%) is up eight to #3. Mercedes (+11.3%) stays in 4th place above Kia (+41%) up five ranks to #5 and Dacia (+33.4%) down three to #6. Opel (+239.9%) delivers the best performance in the Top 10 and in the Top 25 just as Toyota (+27.4%) also outruns the market at #7. In contrast Renault (-38.9%) and Hyundai (-17.4%) both sink year-on-year. Below, notice Cupra (+174.1%), DS (+168.1%), Ford (+110.8%) and Fiat (+85.9%) all in outstanding shape while among low-selling carmakers Bentley (+800%), Alfa Romeo (+344.4%), Suzuki (+277.8%) and Maserati (+240%) stand out.

Over in the models ranking, Peugeot places the 2008 (+52.7%) and 208 (+264.2%) atop the charts like it does year-to-date, while the Dacia Sandero (+15.3%) stays in third place but can’t match the market growth rate. The surprise of the month comes from the Spanish-made Citroen C4 (+102.7%) up 24 spots on June to a world record 4th place. It distances the Citroen C3 (+465.1%) rallying back up 77 ranks on last month after a particularly slow June. The Mercedes A-Class (-4.9%) underperforms year-on-year but is up to #6 vs. #10 so far this year. The Peugeot 308 (+265.9%), Opel Corsa (+233.3%) and Kia Stonic (+142.7%) all lodge surreal year-on-year gains in the remainder of the Top 10, with the VW Polo (+519.6%), Fiat 500 (+249.3%), Nissan Qashqai (+192.7%) and VW T-Cross (+104.5%) also flying off.
