NEWPORT News, Va. (WAVY) — A Newport Information man has been billed with four counts of tried vehicular homicide and several other fees soon after four men and women were being killed in a crash previous 7 days on Interstate 95 just north of the Florida line in Camden County, Georgia.
43-calendar year-aged Nicholas Burist’s semi-truck was heading south Friday on I-95 in close proximity to the Georgia Welcome Middle about 2:30 p.m. when he originally struck a Nissan Armada, according to the Camden County Sheriff’s Place of work. The Armada overturned and hit a Chevrolet Silverado. Burist’s semi was then struck by a Nissan Xterra, a Honda Pilot and a black Peterbilt semi-truck before coming to a rest on I-95 northbound.
Two passengers in Burist’s semi died at the scene, WJXT reported, and Burist was taken to the hospital and later on released. Two travellers in the Pilot died after being taken to the hospital.
The sheriff’s business office states Burist was driving under the affect at the time. He’s also been charged with possession of an open up container, possession of marijuana, adhering to too near and earning an improper lane transform.
He’s getting held in jail without bond.
